Farm Harvest Fest 2006
January 7th, 2007 | Filed under GeneralSo many activities and so much fun at the annual Fall Harvest Fest held on October 8th.
A new performing group, Summit-Up Cloggers, had toes a-tapping with their lively dance steps. A baking contest had Mayor Bill Currin taste-testing pies, cakes, and desserts with great prizes by Windmill Pointe, Uniquely Ohio, and Western Reserve School of Cooking.
Some activities eagerly anticipated each year include apple bobbing, and washing clothes the old-fashioned way. Bev Bryant offered several new children's crafts from the Apple and Earth Art School.
Visitors were attracted to the Mack antique firetruck, antique tractors, and Model A Fords built between 1928 and 1931.
Jack Grace provided hay rides. Michelle Hershall provided the popular pony rides; Rose and John Fay had a furious hula hoop contest taking place along with the tug-of-war and sack races. "Mac, the Magician" had his audiences on the edge of their seats with fascination. Marji Origlio inspired children with her beautifully soft-voiced stories.
Music entertainment by Crazy Rhythm's John Mosey and Barb Wither kept everyone singing along with old favorites. Heather and Lisa Malyuk played beautiful folk duets with the hammered dulcimer, violin, and guitar.
ACT provided face painting. Volunteers assisted the children with creating cornhusk dolls. A new craft, decorating used horse shoes for photo frames, was suggested by Dana Miller.
Emery Prior played music from his music boxes. Craftspeople demonstrated lace-making, rug hooking, quilting, weaving, and spinning.
It was a perfect day to enjoy the farm.
