Barn Gets A New Roof

January 7th, 2007 | Filed under General

It has taken two and a half years, but construction on the bank barn finally began.

The CBF Board of Trustees have been fortunate enough to raise the $50,000 to re-roof the 1890 bank barn. The project has consisted of tearing off the old roofing, replacing rotting boards under the old roofing, and replacing the face boards all around the roof line. Hub Herendeen, Trustee, stated that seven inch rain gutters were added. New shingles were also added on the silo, milk houses, the overhang on the northwest corner doors of the barn and the garage.

The shingles that were used carry a warranty of fifty years and will be able to withstand winds up to 120 miles per hour before they lift. J.D.K. Roofing of Cuyahoga Falls completed the feat of working on the roof.

New lightning rods on both sides were replaced as well.

Interior work is the next phase of the barn reconstruction.
